The provision of a nasal septal perforation prosthesis in a limited number of flange sizes and shapes, axial sizes and axial lengths blocks the majority of nasal septal perforations. The insertion of the prosthesis is simple and reliable, for example, there is no need to fold or round a single flange, and there is no need to pull out a folded or rounded flange through a perforation. Similarly, removal of the prosthesis does not require withdrawal of the flange through the perforations, which can sometimes be psychological trauma.
