PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive tape for preventing an item on a shelf from falling which is simply attached to a shelf partially and is effective in preventing an item on the shelf such as a book from falling at earthquake, etc. and which does not inhibit normal input/output operation and also to provide a method of using the tape and a bookshelf with the tape.;SOLUTION: The adhesive tape 10 is provided with a surface layer 14 whose first surface 12 is a mat form and whose coefficient of static friction is at least 0.8, a reinforcement layer 18 adhered by an easy adhesive method such as corona treatment to the second face 16 which is the opposite side of the first surface 12 of the surface layer 14, and a separation sheet or a liner 20 which is attached to the reinforcement layer 18 and is removed when the adhesive tape 10 is used.
