PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce silver nanoparticles which have particle diameters of 10 to 100 nm and roughly have the shape of a sphere or a desired polyhedron, and provide a silver nanoparticle colloid having a narrow particle diameter distribution at a mass production level so that the concentration of silver in reaction raw liquid is 0.5% or more.SOLUTION: There is provided a silver nanoparticle colloid by proceeding a reduction reaction of silver while inhibiting a reduction effect by controlling speed for mixing a reductant water solution by using water soluble carboxymethyl cellulose having an average molecular weight of 50,000 to 500,000 and an etherification degree of 0.9 to 3.0 as a dispersant in a wet reduction method, where the etherification degree is defied as an average number per unit of OH group of which H (hydrogen) of 3 OH groups in one unit of each cellulose unit in a cellulose chain, which is a main chain of carboxymethyl cellulose, is converted to an organic compound, i.e. etherified.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
