A method of digitally filtering an audio signal using a tuned audio filter. The tuned speech filter is represented by an impulse response that includes a waveform in that time domain, represented by an absolute value limiting function. The composite audio filter is derived from two tuned audio filters, but any number of filters may be used. Composite audio filters typically include a filter bank, which together define a frequency bandwidth that represents the audio signal or spectrum to be filtered. The band pass filter is configured by combining the frequency response of the absolute sine component integrated from 0 to bpf and the absolute sine component integrated from 1 / bpf to 0. The frequency response may be the sum of the frequency responses for each of the filters used to make the composite bandpass filter. [Selection] Figure 5
