PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly method capable of regulating the thickness T of a fine gap 31 between a surface to be detected of an encoder 1 and a shield cover 19a, and an interval between the surface to be detected and a detection surface of a sensor unit with high accuracy.;SOLUTION: A pressing force holder 33 for press-fitting the shield cover 19a to an outer ring 7a is provided with a sensor 34 for examination. A measurement value of a magnetic flux emitting from/to the surface to be detected by the sensor 34 for examination is compared with a reference value, and press-fitting work of the shield cover 19a is performed until difference between both the values becomes small.
