PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably calculate the behaviors of many particles in a dense state while accurately considering the shapes of the particles.SOLUTION: Individual particles are expressed by a polyhedron. When it is determined that a vertex i-v0 of a particle i is sunk into another particle j, regarding each of a plurality of faces of the particle j, the total sum of a sinking amount of the vertex i-v0 with respect to a corresponding face and sinking amounts of respective sides of the particle i having the vertex i-v0 as an end point is calculated. Then, the face of the particle j at which the total sum of sinking amounts becomes minimum is defined as a sinking reference face, and on the basis of a sinking amount with respect to the sinking reference face, contact force acting on the particle i is calculated.
