PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior member of a portable electronic device made of austenitic stainless steel which does not cause an internal crack even by a severe cold forging and which has high strength and is nonmagnetic and excellent in productivity.;SOLUTION: An exterior member of a portable electronic device made of austenitic stainless steel is produced by performing cold forging and cutting work of a steel sheet, which includes 0.003-0.080% of C, 1.00% or less of Si, 3.0% or less of Mn, 0.040% or less of P, 0.030% or less of S, 8.5-10.5% of Ni, 15-20% of Cr, 2.5-3.5% of Cu, 0.01-0.06% of N, 0.003% or less of Al, and 0.003% or less of Ti, with the balance comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities. In the member, an internal crack is not present, and a hardness of the member is 230 HV or more while the amount of strain-induced martensite is 3.5 vol% or less.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
