PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for attaining quantitative prediction of influence on the bile acid transport function of a BSEP (bile salt export pump), for instance, including the influence of a metabolite of a test compound in the presence of bile acid on the test compound in a living body, and quantitative prediction of the level of hepatopathy caused by the influence.SOLUTION: A method for evaluating hepatotoxicity of the test compound includes processes for (a) bringing the test compound into contact with cultured hepatocytes in the presence of bile acid, and (b) measuring the disorder level of the cultured hepatocytes with which the test compound is brought into contact. A method for screening a compound that has hepatotoxicity includes processes for (c) evaluating the hepatotoxicity of the test compound using the above method, and (d) comparing the obtained evaluation result with an evaluation result in the absence of bile acid and determining that the test compound is the compound that has hepatotoxicity when hepatotoxicity in the presence of bile acid significantly rises.
