PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photon detection system capable of effectively grasping a bright illumination attack even when the attack is made using a certain number of photons to cause a failure in single photon detection by a single photon detector.;SOLUTION: The photon detection system includes: a propagation path 11 where photons are propagated; a first separation portion 12 which separates the photons propagated in the propagation path; a first branch path 13 where some photons separated by the first separation portion 12 are propagated; a second branch path 14 where the remaining photons separated by the first separation portion 12 are propagated; a first single photon detector 15 which detects the photons propagated in the first branch path 13; a second single photon detector 16 which detects the photons propagated in the second branch path 14; and a control portion 17 which receives information detected by the first single photon detector 15 and second single photon detector 16.
