PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aboveground tank and a construction method for the same which can reduce cross-sectional force on a side wall close to a bottom portion and can improve workability.;SOLUTION: An aboveground tank 1 comprises: a bottom slab 2 made of concrete; and a side wall 3 which has a cylindrical or almost cylindrical shape and is made of concrete. The side wall 3 has: a first side wall 10 rigidly connected to the bottom slab 2; and a second side wall 20 which is constructed along an outer face of the first side wall 10 in a state where the same is non-rigidly connected to the bottom slab 2 and independent of the first side wall 10. The first side wall 10 has vertical tendons 11 upwardly extended from the bottom slab 2 and horizontal tendons 12 arranged along a circumference direction thereof. The second side wall 20 has the horizontal tendons 21 along the circumference direction thereof. Compression force is applied to the first side wall 10 in the circumferential direction thereof by tightening the second side wall 20 with tensioning force introduced into the horizontal tendons 21.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
