PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method of treating soil polluting water using a photocatalyst material capable of efficiently removing a volatile organic compound and heavy metal causing soil pollution only by light irradiation.SOLUTION: A method of treating soil polluting water by a photocatalyst is used for detoxifying a volatile organic compound included in the soil polluting water, and includes: (1) a process of subjecting the soil polluting water to gas-liquid separation to obtain a gas phase; and (2) a process of decomposing, by the photocatalyst material, a volatile organic compound included in the gas phase obtained in the process 1. A method of treating soil polluting water by a photocatalyst is used for removing heavy metal included in the soil polluting water, and includes: (1) a process of subjecting the soil polluting water to gas-liquid separation to obtain a liquid phase; and (2) a process of removing, by the photocatalyst, heavy metal included in the liquid phase obtained in the process 1.
