PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer electrolyte membrane which has the protonic conductivity higher than those of the conventional sulfonated polyimide electrolyte membrane and phosphoric acid-doped polyimide electrolyte membrane in a wide temperature range from low temperature to high temperature and which is excellent in membrane stability and gas barrier property. PSOLUTION: The solid polymer electrolyte membrane is produced by doping phosphoric acid to an electrolyte membrane which is obtained by blending sulfonated polyimide with polyimidazole.
