The present invention relates to the field of telephony and specifically to a method for correcting the degradation of telephone signal quality caused by analogue lines. The invention describes managing, via the receiver, a specific correction of telephone signal degradation caused by the length of the analogue line between the parties. Said line length between the receiver and the telephone switchboard to which said receiver is connected is stored in the receiver. Advantageously, the line lengths between the receiver of the called party and the corresponding switchboard are stored, for example in the director of the apparatus.
