Process for the extinction of calcium and magnesium oxides of calco-magnesium compound, preferably containing at least 10% by weight of MgO relative to the total weight of said calco-magnesian compound, in the dry process comprising a supply of calco-magnesian compound in a quenching tank, a supply of an aqueous phase of quenching in said quenching vessel, and a quenching of said calcium-magnesium compound supplied to said quenching vessel, by said aqueous phase of quenching, with formation of particles slaked solids of calcium and magnesium hydroxides, in the presence of an additive.
