A process for liquefying a cellulosic material to synthesize a liquefied product is described, the process of which comprises bringing the cellulosic material into contact simultaneously with - an acid catalyst, - a solvent mixture containing water and a cosolvent, whose cosolvent comprises one or more solvents containing water and a cosolvent whose cosolvent comprises one or more polar solvents and whose cosolvent is present in an amount greater than or equal to 10% by weight and less than or equal to 95% by weight based on the total weight of water and the cosolvent; - a hydrogenation catalyst and - a hydrogen source. Also described are the products obtained from the above process and the use of such products to prepare biofuels.
