The present patent application comprises a method and equipment for eliminating harmonic components based on two complementary techniques, namely selective elimination of harmonics by pulse width modulation (she pwm) in conjunction with the multiple winding transformer. The combination of these two features is able to reduce harmonic current distortion to extremely low values providing a truly unitary power factor. the technology is suitable for alternating current - direct current and direct current - low and medium voltage alternating current converters that interface with the mains and should have low harmonic current distortion because of the high power value involved and also because of mains (low short circuit power at the coupling point).
