A method of treating a silicate raw material for the production of a natural sorbent or a sorbent made of this litter for cats and small animals. Silicate raw materials selected from the group consisting of kaolin, clays, zeolite, bentonite, quartz sand, feldspar, limestone, dolomite, diatomaceous earth, sepiolite, expanded perlite or vermiculite, muscovite, biotite, expanded cypress clay and expanded kaolin or mixtures thereof, of litter produced, are exposed to the magnetic field of magnitude of magnetic induction in the range of up to 5 T, or up to 10 T, to increase the whiteness, brightness and change in color or dryness, in combination with the chemical action of oxidizing reductant reducing agents the reaction of dye oxides conversion from a higher degree to a lower oxidation less color degree.
