A method of cutting at least one line (38, 40, 42, 44) extending along a pipe string (16) in a well (2), containing (A) using a cutting tool (48) with selective cutting activation, equipped with at least one cutting means (54, 56, 58, 60) for cutting radially outward from the cutting tool (48); and (B) lowering the cutting tool (48) to the longitudinal section (L1) where cutting should be performed. A distinctive feature is the use of the cutting tool (48) for controlled cutting by means of the specified cutting means (54, 56, 58, 60) in the peripheral direction and with the distribution in the axial direction relative to the cutting tool (48); (C) activating the cutting tool (48) and cutting radially in the walls of the tubular column (16) and behind them at least one peripherally extending hole (62, 64, 66, 68), collectively occupying the full circumference of the tubular column (16 ), as well as the distribution of the hole (62, 64, 66, 68) in the axial direction.
