The invention relates to geophysical surveys of rocks, in particular, to methods of monitoring and determination of a dangerous state of rocks during underground mining, wherein acoustic emission is initiated by an artificial source, acoustic emission signals are registered, the obtained data are processed, and the dangerous state of rocks is estimated on the basis of the processing results, and the invention can be used in mining, tunnel driving, and other underground works. According to the invention, the mining machine that performs driving is used as the artificial source. Additionally, acoustic emission signals from natural sources of the rock massive are registered. The data are processed using change of fractal dimension of time series of acoustic emission, during which the fractal dimension is determined as well as speed of stress relaxation. If fractal dimension deviates from the standard value for the rock massive under survey, then the moment of a dangerous state of the rock massive is approaching, and the time to possible rock bump or rockfall is determined. The achieved technical result is increased accuracy and reliability of determination of the moment of possible rock bump or rockfall of the rock massive during continuous monitoring.
