A method for producing salt of lorcaserin with phthalic acid is provided. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions, comprising salt of lorcaserin with phthalic acid or salt of lorcaserin with phthalic acid and metformin, and the use thereof for the treatment and/or prevention of disorders related to excess weight and/or obesity, including in case of diabetes mellitus, and to methods for the prophylaxis or treatment of disorders related to excess weight and/or obesity, including in case of diabetes mellitus.
