The invention relates to method for the preparation of antidiabetic, antilipidemic and antioxidant extract from Trichosanthes dioica, comprises the collection, washing, cutting, drying of fruits and crushing of dry fruits, characterized in that, extracting the powder of dried crushed fruits with hot water at 40-100� C up to 4 -48 hours and filtered to remove the residue and obtain the crude extract, the crude extract was concentrated at 0 - 80� C on rotary evaporator under reduced pressure at 0.4 - 0.8 atm., the concentrated crude extract was lyophilized to obtain a powder having antidiabetic and antilipidemic activity, a portion of crude extract was subjected to liquid- liquid extraction using conventional organic solvents, the aqueous portion obtained such as herein described was concentrated under the same set of conditions of temperature and pressure described earlier and lyophilized to obtain a powder having antidiabetic, antilipidemic as well as antioxidant activity.
