In the present invention there is provided a composition for making vitreous ceramic products, a process for making the same and products made thereby, wherein the synergistic composition has steel melting electric arc furnace (EAF) slag which acts as a auxiliary flux in the composition due to the presence of high amount of iron oxide in it and a compatible composition is worked out so that the EAF slag helps in vitrification at a relatively lower temperature for the whole composition and providing the similar or better properties of the final product. The vitreous ceramic products made from the composition and process, are such as ceramic vitreous tiles, pavement blocks & tiles and related product having high strength and water absorption property of less than 0.5%.
