The invention described herein discloses compositions comprising the administration of a therapeutically effective amount of catechins flavonoids mixture prepared by membrane separation technology. Catechins are the flavonoids found in abundant in green tea leaves of Camellia sinensis variety commonly cultivated in Assam tea gardens. Compositions of catechins include but not limited to, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg), epicatechin (EC), epicatechin gallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC). The unique compositions of the invention contain various combinations of the catechins with reduced levels of EGCg, alone or in combination with each other or other therapeutic agents and are used for medicinal applications.
