According to one embodiment, a nonlinear distortion compensation apparatus includes a signal processor, a FFT module, an elimination module, an IFFT module, a detector, and a distortion compensator. The signal processor detects a time difference and a phase difference between the signals, and performs synchronization and phase adjustment of the signals based on the detected time difference and phase difference. The FFT module converts the signal at the input side of the compensation object apparatus into a first frequency axis signal and converts the signal at the output side of the compensation object apparatus into a second frequency axis signal. The elimination module eliminates direct current components contained in the first and second frequency axis signals obtained by the FFT module. The IFFT module converts the first frequency axis signal into a first time axis signal and converts the second frequency axis signal into a second time axis signal. The detector detects a distortion component from the first time axis signal and the second time axis signal obtained by the IFFT module. The distortion compensator detects a distortion compensation amount based on the distortion component and performs distortion compensation on the signal at the input side of the compensation object apparatus based on the distortion compensation amount.
