An aspect of the present invention connects guests in restaurant environments. In one embodiment, a first guest using a portable device (such as a tablet) is enabled to send a specific request to one or more (other) guests present within the premises of the restaurant environment. The responses to the specific request received from some of the guests are then provided (for example, displayed) on the portable device, with the first guest then facilitated to indicate selection of a specific response (received from a second guest) from the received responses. Upon such selection, the portable device performs an action based on the specific request (sent earlier) and the selection of the specific response (by the first guest). Thus, a guest is connected with other guests using the portable devices (either personal or provided by the restaurant).
