Blood cell separation and counting are very basic and significant tests in clinical field. With the advent of microfluidics lot of research has escalated to find easy, efficient and faster ways of performing such tests with minimum of pain or trauma. Present invention provides a Semi-Automatic method of separation of blood components and estimated count of erythrocytes and leucocytes. One can get the inference in few moments about count to be normal, less or excess by extracting minute (1|JL) quantity of blood, flowing through the device and then just by looking the level of the microchannel filled through microscope. No calculations are required with additive advantage of simple and easy handling of device. No complex instrumentation is required for the procedure. The principle of separation of cells in the device exploits the laminar flow in micro-dimensions and design of cross-flow filtration that reduces the clogging of micro-filter structures. Numerous Weir and Pillar-shaped devices with single geometrical design provides efficient separation.
