A process for production of bioactive oligosaccharides from extremophilic fungus

This invention relates to a process for the production of bioactive exopolysaccharides (EPS), comprising inoculating Basal Salt medium with the fungus Thelebolus sp. IITKGP-BT112 followed by incubation to produce the EPS, filtering the culture medium and adding an alcohol to the culture filtrate to precipitate the EPS followed by centrifugation to recover cruder EPS, dissolving the crude EPS in an alkali followed by dialysis, lyophilisation and purification by chromatography to yield the EPS.
