BROMOBUTYL RUBBER (BIIR) AND POLYEPICHLOROHYDRIN RUBBER (ECH) BLEND NANOCOMOSITES

Present invention provides a rubber nanocomposite that improve air barrier properties comprising halogenated butyl rubber in the range of 53.5-41.5% by weight; homopolymer of polyepicholorohydrin elastomer in the range of 13.5-2.0% by weight; organically modified nanoclay in the range of 0.3-4.5% by weight said polyepicholorohydrin elastomer being pre melt blended with 0.05-0.15%by weight 2,4,6-trimercapto-sym-triazine and other functional additives. Air barrier properties of said rubber nanocomposite can achieve significant reduction in air permeability at least to the extent of 64% or more. Also provided are methods for preparing the rubber nanocomposite.
