7. ABSTRACT: The present process reports, the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions using Parthenium flower activated carbon (PFAC). The batch adsorption experiments were carried out for the removal of 5 ppm MB from aqueous solutions PFAC. MB was chosen in this study because of its known strong adsorption onto solids. MB, a cationic dye, is not regarded as acutely toxic, but it has various harmful effects. The effects of major variables governing the efficiency of the process such as pH , dosage of adsorbent and stirring time were investigated. Experimental results have show that, the amount of dye adsorption is maximum in neutral pH 7 and contact time of 20 min (Figures not given). The optimum dosage of PFAC required for maximum dye adsorption is 60 mg/ L was found to be the optimum dosage of PFAC to remove methylene blue. PFAC also shows dye removal capacity on Malachite Green (MG), Evan"s Blue (EB) and Direct Green (DG).
