This design innovation is on integrating the Oil pump assembly of gas turbine engine with novel gasket to avoid leakage. The oil pumps made in light alloys, having plate stack up configuration, leaks at mating interface. The leak is observed mostly after few hours of servicing, raising a serious reliability issues, which in few cases resulted in grounding of aircraft. In order to avoid the oil leaks, a innovative design methodology is developed, which includes two number novel gasket introduced in pump assembly, one between Pump casing and Pump plate and second between Pump plate and Pump cover. These gaskets are made up of Klingersil material which is compatible with oil and can be integrated without disturbing the basic design configuration of oil pump. These gaskets are integrated on Oil pump with the application of oil sealant eliminates oil leakage, resulting in increase in Oil pumps reliability and enormous saving. The methodology can be useful for applying across the gas turbine spectrum on increasing the reliability, durability, endurance and total technical life of oil pump.
