The present invention is a disposable diaper (1) which has a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction that intersects with said longitudinal direction and which is provided with an absorbent body (10) that has an absorbent (11) for absorbing excreted matter a back waist encircling section (30) located on one end of the absorbent body (10) and an abdominal waist encircling section (40) located on the other end of the absorbent body (10). The disposable diaper is characterized in that: the two sides of the absorbent (11) in the transverse direction are provided with a pair of embossed lines (50 50) formed by embossing from the skin side of the absorbent (11); and the embossed lines (50 50) are provided with a vertex (52) that is located in the central section of the disposable diaper (1) in the middle of the disposable diaper (1) in the longitudinal direction or on the back waist encircling section (30) side of said middle and protrudes inward in the transverse direction and straight or outwardly curving curved back lines (56) that have the vertices (52) as starting points and extend outward in the transverse direction and toward the back waist encircling section (30) in the longitudinal direction.
