The cleaning control apparatus for an electric water heater comprises a control valve module (10) a cleaning triggering key (20) and a controller (30). The control valve module (10) is separately connected to a sewage draining port a water inlet and a water outlet of the electric water heater. The controller (30) is separately connected to the control valve module (10) and the cleaning triggering key (20) and when the cleaning triggering key (20) is triggered the controller (30) controls the control valve module (10) to control the electric water heater to clean. By means of the cleaning control apparatus for an electric water heater and the cleaning control method therefor in the prese nt invention cleaning of the electric water heater can be automatically controlled by means of one key triggering.
