A subject for the invention is to provide: a technique which can prevent a reaction from running away in the production of a reaction product in a plate-type reactor and which can be used for producing a reaction product with high productivity; a technique for packing a catalyst at least evenly and easily into the space between adjacent heat-transfer plates disposed in a plate-type reactor; and a process for producing a reaction product at a high efficiency while inhibiting an increase in pressure loss, the occurrence of hot spots, and catalyst damage even when the reactor is operated under highload conditions. The invention relates to a process which includes disposing heat-transfer plates in a plate-type reactor in positions within a specific tolerance range based on a design value, disposing a plurality of partitions in the spaces between the heat-transfer plates, the partitions dividing each of the spaces into a plurality of sections along the passing direction of a starting material, further disposing a plurality of gas-permeable plugs which freely removably close the bottoms of the sections, and obtaining a reaction product using a specific starting material under such conditions as to result in a specific load.
