Method for the production and further processing of a spinning cop (9), wherein the spinning cop (9) is produced on a ring spinning machine (30) and processed further on a winding machine (1), and wherein on the ring spinning machine (30) upper windings (43) are applied to the spinning cop (9). Accordingly to the invention the spinning cop (9) with the upper windings (43) applied on the ring spinning machine (30) is transported to a winding position (2) of the winding machine (1), at the winding position (2) the thread end of the spinning cop (9) is provided by the upper windings (43) applied on the ring spinning machine (30), the provided thread end of the spinning cop (9) is taken at the winding position (2) of the winding machine (1) and a thread connection is formed and the spinning cop (9) at the winding position (2) is unwound.
