The invention relates to an improved method and system for smart transit and smart city by providing smart Wi-Fi with advanced mobile application that is meant to be used in the Private and State owned Public transport corporations like, Railways, Metro Trains, Mono Rails, Flights, Buses and Cabs etc., and also at high traffic public areas like Airports, Railway Stations, Bus Depots, Shopping Malls, Corporate Parks, Large Office Complexes, and School/ College Campus, etc.; wherein the said invention comprises beaming the content through Wi-Fi at the transmission end and streaming the same using the advanced mobile application/website at the user end. With the help of advance mobile applications, users can watch the online content like, latest news, sports, and use services like, mobile ticketing as well as the offline content like Movies, TV shows etc. on their mobile phones. This allows users to remain productive while travelling. Multimedia contents will be streamed to individual user devices as per the demand from an on-board central server. Also, users can connect their own wireless devices, namely laptops, smart phones and tablet computers, to the Internet via a shared Wi-Fi connection.
