Wireless connectivity provokes digitalization, which became the basic need and over the last decade- - continuously giving rapid growth in the communication field. This makes a huge increasing in the demand of the compactness in the antenna structure. The proposed CPW-fed meta-material antenna is also one of them to invoke the wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (Wi-MAX) applications in the frequency range of 5.4-5.8GHz. Meta-materials are capable to manipulate EM waves by blocking, absorbing, enhancing, and bending waves and also radiate more energy. The proposed antenna having the rectangular structure (S- slot) designed by using FR4 substrate having dielectric constant of 4.4 and tand=0.02 with the thickness 0.8mm having the overall dimension of 44.5x31.7x0.8 mm3. The simulation results shows that the proposed antenna have achieved the good radiation efficiency and directivity for the specified design parameters. As compared with the existing antenna configurations the proposed CPW-fed meta-material antenna has the advantages of low cost because of the widely used FR4 substrate* simple fabrication, miniaturization and compactness, which can be applied to the wireless communication system.
