The invention relates to wood-based installations and thermal processes for preparing heating medium intended to heat 120 dwelling flats with a surface of 7500...8500 m, by groups of blocks of flats, irrespective of the number of storeys. The claimed installation comprises a heating power unit (A) which produces the heating medium (G) by the combustion of wood in a furnace (G), for 90 minutes, after which the heating medium is pushed by a pump (C), by centrifugation, into a plastic tank (B) installed on the block roof, in the proximity of the heating power unit (A), the processes by which the tank (B) is thermally insulated, which allows it to keep the heating medium therein for up to 3 h without a temperature drop below 70°C, from the initial storing temperature of 90°C, the tank (B) sending the heating medium, in a controlled manner, through the supply pipes (7), to all the 120 dwellings of the blocks of flats heated by the heating medium, based on the principle of communicating vessels, depending on the temperature of the outside environment, some valves (9) on the return pipes are open and the heating medium descends from the radiators through some return pipes (8) and enters the heating power unit (A) where it is charged with heat energy and, in order to exhaust the smoke, only when wood combustion takes place in the heating power unit (A), there is a 20 m-high smoke flue for leading the smoke up, over the height of the block in whose proximity it is placed, in order not to disturb the residents.
