Method for obtaining an adsorbent which uses waste postconsumer coffee and its use for the adsorption of CO {sub, 2}. # The present invention relates to a method for obtaining an adsorbent material capable of adsorbing CO {sub, 2 }, using post-consumer waste coffee. The preparation process comprises drying the residue, its conformation in the absence of ligands, and thermal activation in the presence of an activating agent, which is preferably CO {sub, 2}. Textural and density of the material obtained by the process of the invention, which also protects, make it an ideal candidate for the adsorption of CO {sub, 2}, and preferably in the capture of CO {sub, 2} afterburner.
