A method of printing a three-dimensional part (24) with an additive manufacturing system (10) based on extrusion, the method comprising: printing a support structure (26) from a support material with the system (10) of extrusion-based additive manufacturing, using a layer-based additive manufacturing technique, in which the support material comprises at least two polymers having different glass transition temperatures, and which are substantially immiscible with each other; in coordination with the printing of the support structure (26), print the three-dimensional part (24) from a one-piece material with the extrusion-based additive manufacturing system (10), using the additive-based manufacturing technique in layers, in which the material of the piece has a glass transition temperature that is less than the glass transition temperature of at least one of the polymers of the support material; heating the printed support structure (26) and the printed three-dimensional piece (24) at least at a temperature that is greater than the glass transition temperature of the part material, and that is below a glass transition temperature of at minus one of the polymers of the support material; and cooling the heated support structure (26) and the heated three-dimensional part (24).
