Climbing head to raise a self-climbing protection system for construction work in buildings, the climbing head (3) being able to be released releasably to a mast (1) comprising two vertical beams (1a) that have respective lateral wings (1c) that longitudinally protrude longitudinally outward in their rear parts and a plurality of supporting elements (2, 2a) fixed between the vertical beams (1a) at different heights; and comprising two vertical side plates (3a), spaced apart from each other and joined together at their lower end and at their upper end; articulation means (3e) for tiltingly engaging the upper parts of the side plates (3a) to the upper end (4a) of a lifting cylinder (4) whose lower end (4b) is coupled to anchoring means ( 5, 6) attached to a flange part of a floor slab (7) of a building, the lifting cylinder (4) being able to adopt an extended position and a retracted position; a rocker element (9) pivoting between a lifting position in which its front part (9a) protrudes from the side plates (3a) and the mast (1) is engaged when the lifting cylinder (4) extends towards said extended position for raising the mast (1), and a passage position, in which it allows the passage of the mast (1) when the lifting cylinder (4) retracts to said retracted position; a lower claw (10) comprising a lower left claw element (10a, 10b) and a lower right claw element (10c, 10c) each protruding laterally beyond one of the side plates (3a); lower locking means for blocking each of the lower claw elements (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d) in a locked position in which it hugs one of said lateral wings (1c) and an open position in which the elements of lower claws (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d) release said lateral wings (1c); characterized in that the climbing head (3) further comprises an upper claw (11) comprising a left upper claw element (11a, 11b) and a right upper claw element (11c, 11d) that protrude each laterally beyond one of the side plates (3a), and upper locking means for blocking each of the upper claw elements (11a, 11b, 11c, 11d) in a locked position in which one of said side wings (1c) and an open position in which the upper claw elements (11 a, 11 b, 11c, 11d) release said lateral wings (1c); each of the claw elements (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d) comprises a fixed claw portion (10a, 10c, 11a, 11c) that protrudes from a side plate (3a) and a movable claw part (10b, 10d, 11b, 11d) that pivots around a vertical rotation axis (12a, 12b), provided in the fixed claw part (10a, 10c, 11a, 11c) on which it is mounted, between said locked position and said open position; The locking means comprise lower and upper left locking means and lower and upper right locking means, the locking means each comprising a bolt (vertical 13a, 13b; 15a, 15b) which, in the locked position of the claw element (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d), remains removable inserted in first through holes (17a, 17b; 18a, 18b; 19a, 19b; 20a, 20b) aligned vertically provided respectively in the part fixed claw (10a, 10c, 11 a, 11c) and in the movable claw portion (10b, 10d, 11b, 11d) between the respective axis of vertical rotation (12a, 12b) and the respective side plate (3a); the vertical bolts (13a, 13b) of the left locking means are connected to a left vertical rod (14) that slides through second through holes (21a, 21b) provided respectively in the left movable claw portions (10b, 11b) in a position between its axis of rotation (12a) and its free end; the vertical bolts (15a, 15b) of the right locking means are connected to a right vertical rod (16) that slides through second through holes (21c, 21d) provided respectively in the right moving claw parts (10d, 11d) in a position between its axis of rotation (12b) and its free end; each of the vertical stems (14, 16) has a length such that its lower end portions (14a, 16a) remain guided in the respective second through holes (21a, 21c) in the lower movable claw portions (10b, 10d ) when said vertical bolts (13a, 13b, 15a, 15b) are pulled upwards by removing them from said first through holes (17a, 17b; 18a, 18b; 19a, 19b; 20a, 20b).
