Osteoinductive differentiation medium for differentiation of human adipose stem cells (hASCs) in osteoprogenitor cells, the medium comprising a p38 MAPK at a concentration of 0.1 to less than 10 .mu.M, wherein the p38 MAPK inhibitor is 4 - (4-Fluorophenyl) -2- (4-hydroxyphenyl) -5- (4-pyridyl) -1H-imidazole or 1- [2-Methoxy-4- (methylthio) -benzoyl] -4-benzylpiperidine.
