A method for detecting fibers branching in an optical network of point to multipoint type, wherein the optical network comprises an optical module division and a plurality of fibers branch connected to different ports of the optical module respectively divide, which method comprises: sending test signals to the fibers branch, where the test signals are added, respectively, in the optical module ports division with identification information for identifying the fibers branch connected to ports; and receiving a reflection signal added with the identification information of a fiber sensed fork, the fiber identification branch corresponding to the reflection signal by detecting information identification added to the reflection signal and obtaining characteristics of fiber channel branch in accordance with the reflection signal, wherein each test signal is a spread spectrum signal with wavelengths covering a section of predetermined spectrum and identification information is added by the module optical splitting in the test signal by checking a frequency component corresponding to the fiber fork in the spread spectrum signal, characterized in that the section of predetermined range is preset with N frequency components in particular for identify fibers branch and each component fr ecuencia is defined as a binary code "1" or "0" depending on whether the frequency component is, or not blocked; the N frequency components together define a binary code of N bits, and the binary N-bit code is used as identification information of the fiber branch, and the binary codes of N bits with different binary values corresponding to different fibers branch, respectively, the N frequency components of the test signal are locked selectively in a port connected to the fiber branching detected in the optical module division, so that the test signal is added with a code binary N bits of a value corresponding to the detected fiber branch code.
