The invention relates to a method for production of a winding block for a coilof a transformer, having at least onewinding composed of electrically conductive wire or strip material with aplurality of turns and an insulating layer composed ofelectrically insulating fiber material with a specific number of windings ofthe insulating fiber material. The turns composed ofelectrical conductive material are fitted independently of the turns of theinsulating material and, after the predetermined numberof turns of electrically conductive material have been fitted, a smallernumber of turns of electrically insulating material are fittedover the same section onto these turns of electrically conductive material,such that the remaining number of turns, of electricallyinsulating material which remain before reaching a number of turns ofelectrically conductive material are used as edge insulation.
