A hydrocarbon exploration methodis disclosed for generating anisotropic resistivitymodels of a subsurface reservoir from seismic andwell data using a rock physics model. In one embodiment,the method comprises: selecting wells withina region of interest (101); obtaining a plurality ofrock properties (102) and adjusting selected rockparameters (103) in the calibration of the rockphysics model at the well locations; inverting porosityand shale content from seismic data (107); propagatingthe calibrated rock physics model to the regionof interest (109) and calculating effective resistivityfor the entire region of interest (109). The inventivemethod also provides for analyzing the uncertaintyassociated with the prediction of the resistivityvolume.
