A system and a method is described for outdoor geolocation of predeterminedmobile assetssuch as trucks and trailers. The system comprises a centralized database, amobilecontroller mounted in a mobile vehicle, and a plurality of outdoor identitydevices (RFIDtags) associated with a respective one of mobile asset. The mobile controllerhas acommunication link with a centralized database, an identity devices detector,a globalpositioning system device (GPS) and an optional user interface computer withnavigationguidance and assets information display. The centralized database uses thecommunicationlink with the mobile controller to gather the outdoor identity devicesdetections. Storedinformation is used for the real-time tracking management of the assetsthrough locationsand time. The mobile assets are likely truck trailers equipped with unpoweredidentitydevices in order to allow fleet management, maintenance and follow-up.
