A service provider computer can receive an e-prescription transaction from aprescriber computer and evaluate the data therein to determine if errors existor if requireddata elements are missing. A rejection of the e-prescription transaction canbe generated orthe transaction can be modified if errors exist, if data elements are missing,and/or ifadditional tests or additional information in the transaction is needed. Ifmodified, thetransaction can be sent to the pharmacy computer. The rejection response caninclude a rejectcode, basis for rejection, and override code, and can be transmitted back tothe prescribercomputer. Similarly, the service provider computer can receive an e-prescription transactionfrom the pharmacy computer, evaluate the data therein, and identify any errorsor missingdata. The e-prescription transaction can be modified to correct errors andomissions andtransmitted to the prescriber computer or rejected and transmitted back to thepharmacycomputer.
