Said protective insert (1) is characterized in that the wall region (2) forms at least two oversize points (12a-12d) on the outside, by means of which the insertion retaining profile (6) radially protrudes beyond a regularly formed outside multi-tooth profile, and in that the protective insert (1) has a stop region (8) adjacent to the wall region (2) at a front axial end (9), the stop region (8) radially protruding outward beyond the wall region (2). The invention relates to a protective insert for a box wrench tool that is easy to install and exchange on a traditional box wrench tool and that reliably protects a workpiece to be actuated, in particular also during the placement of the box wrench tool onto the workpiece.
