The barbecue apparatus has a heat source (14), a grill (26), and a shoulder formation (24) for supporting the grill above the heat source. The drainage apparatus includes elongate drip channels (42), a support frame (46) and a drip collector (58). The support frame is supported on the shoulder formation after the grill is removed from the shoulder formation. The drip channels are supported by the support frame above the heat source such that the drip channels slope downwards from a first end to an opposite, second end.
