The present invention relates to a system for evaluating the reliability of a dynamic positioning system, and a method therefor, and to a system for evaluating the reliability of a dynamic positioning system, and a method therefor, the evaluating system comprising: a controller for controlling a real thrust device by calculating the thrust required for a real ship in order to fix the position of the real ship and the direction of the stem according to an external force acting on the real ship; various pieces of equipment provided in the real ship in order to fix the position of the real ship and the direction of the stem; and a simulator simulating the real ship, and connected to the controller so as to analyze the motions of a virtual ship according to the control of the controller, wherein the simulator transmits, to the controller, the changed position information of the virtual ship and the operation information of a virtual thrust device, and the controller repeatedly carries out the step of re-calculating the thrust required for the real ship on the basis of the transmitted information and outputting a control signal to the simulator again, thereby testing whether the controller is normally operated without connecting the real equipment to the controller and simulating a trial run of the dynamic positioning system.
