A method and device for operating a set-top box, and a set-top box. The method comprises: detect the power state of a set-top box; when the set-top box is in a standby or shutdown state, the set-top box acquires a high definition multimedia interface-consumer electronics control (HDMI-CEC) command; and start the set-top box after the HDMI-CEC command is received as a start command.
